GC, NW Cacao Xcitement Sire:CH Godz Total Whiteout of Fultonblue Dam: Brannaway Consuming Love of Cacao DOB: June 6, 2008 Xcitement has just gotten better and better since he was a one show grand in Feb of 2009, so we decided to let him sit out the rest of the 2008-2009 season while we were campaigning GC, NW Cacao Make Everything Magical, then bring him back out this season to see what he can do. So far, the results are fantastic! Xcite has been awarded numerous Best Cat awards and also has been Highest Scoring cat in show several times this show season. We are "excited" (to say the least!) to see how far our boy can go. Xcite was honored with the Linda Casey Memorial award for being the highest scoring Persian at Birmingham Feline Fanciers in Birmingham, AL on the last weekend of January. Linda Casey, along with her husband Ken, were the breeder/owners of Aftabi Persians. It's somewhat fitting that Xcite won the award - and a tribute to their breeding program - as his paternal grandmother is GC Aftabi Madame Rue of Fultonblue. The show season is over and we are beyond pleased to announce that Xcite is a 2009-2010 National Winner, ending the show season as CFA's 10th Best Cat in Champioship and 2nd Best Solid Color Persian (as well as best white Persian)! And his littermate, Shauney, is a Regional Winner! |
And Another picture of Xcitement, taken in May of 2010, 3 weeks after the end of the show season. |

GC Cacao Quippy Sire:CH Godz Total Whiteout of Fultonblue Dam: GC Brannaway Georgia O'Keefe DOB: July 22, 2008 And another Q name! OK, this one might need some explaining. Georgia has another daughter named "GC Brananway Betursweetbippy of Cacao" AKA "Bippy." We were trying to come up with Q names - Janet likes short names. We came across the word "Quip" and Carissa said "Quippy! It rhymes with Bippy! They are half sisters! It's perfect!" And .. there you are. Quippy is beautiful white we were fortunate enough to be able to produce when Liza of Kittiary extended the lease of Georgia from one litter to two. We are very grateful for the second breeding and we do cherish our Quippy! Georgia is now happily at home with Liza. Quippy Granded at the June 6-7 Gulf Shore Regional Awards Show - And we have our "Q" Grand!!!!

GC Cacao A Simple Design Sire:GC, RW Cacao Dawson's Creek Dam:GC Brannaway Betursweetbippy of Cacao DOB: July 30, 2009 "Dottie" is another incredibly beautiful girl out of Dawson - and his 5th to grand in the 2009-2010 show season! Dottie granded at the last show of the season in Colorado Springs, CO. Dottie is always winning people over with her beautiful expression and very goofy personality. "Dottie's" registered name is "A Simple Design" - and it's a comment on the intent of those who "simply" wanted to "show their longhair zots." In the end, they will want to register these longhair variants of the Exotic breed as Persians, for the past has shown that the Exotic Breed Council will not honor prior promises. In order to get their AOV cats on the show bench, they PROMISED they would not ask to register these cats as Persians.. however, years before, they also promise to NEVER ask to show their Lh AOV cats. Later, they claimed that "times change" and those who made the promises were no longer bound by them or perhaps not showing anymore. We are forced to wonder - what else is on their agenda? It is, quite simply, a simple design that will end what it means to be a breed in CFA.

GC Cacao Accept No Imitations Sire:GC Cacao Abercrombie, DM Dam: GC, RW Cacao Fire In My Pachette, DM DOB: October 17, 2008 "Tate" is a beautiful brown mack tabby and white and a repeat of the fantastic litter that produced GP Cacao Man On Fire, GC Cacao Firestarter, and GP Cacao Hot Pursuit of Cottontop. Tate hit the show rings running - granding very quickly! We might keep him out as a Grand to see how he can hold his own. Tate granded at the Show & Tell show on December 19, 2009. His granding is the 14th for his sire and 5th for his mother - so GC, RW Cacao Fire In My Pachette is now a DM! As his name suggests - Tate is a reminder that Longhair Exotics are not Persians. They contain a mixture of many breeds including Burmese, British Shorthairs, American Shorthairs, Russian Blues, and "random breds." The history of Persians and their pedigrees is rivaled only by that of the Siamese. Remember that looks aren't everything - genes are carried for innumerable generations. |

GC Cacao Make No Exceptions Sire:GC, RW Cacao Dawson's Creek Dam:GC Cedar Rose Goldie Hawn of Cacao DOB: November 22, 2008 "Maker" is a beautiful blue&white girl from Dawson's first litter of kittens. She's a beautiful girl with huge eyes, wonderful eye color, and tiny, round ears. Maker granded at the Houston Cat Club show Jan 10, 2010!!! Our first time ever granding 4 kittens from the same litter! Maker is available! Please contact us if you are interested in purchasing her. We prefer to sell within the US. No regional restrictions on Maker OR her offspring! Maker's name is a reminder that no other breed has a show rule that allows for another breed to be shown in their breed. The CFA Board of Directors changed show rule 2.04 to allow for just ONE breed to be shown in another breed. NO OTHER BREED is allowed this exception. It is our belief that if one breed is going to be forced to accept mimics, then all breeds should have to... making an exception here or there smacks of hypocrisy and creates confusion.

CH Cacao Hold The Line Sire:GC Cacao Seabiscuit Dam: Cacao Sweet Potato Queen DOB: January 9, 2009 "Liner" is a stunning seal lynx point female that has the cutest little round ears! She is a grand-daughter to GC Brannaway Modigliani and a kitten we think we have been waiting for since we first started using Modi in our himmy program. Liner did pretty well at the shows, picking up quite a few grand points! However, then she got ideas about motherhood and decided showing wasn't important anymore... so now she's off the show career to have babies! Liner's name says it all - hold the line... why should we make it change directions for one breed and not another? CFA has a policy that specifically prohibits the showing of mimics (known as "What Is A Breed" or "WIAB" for short) - that should hold for all breeds! Those who believe in WIAB should not back down in trying to force the CFA Board to act correctly and adhere with approved CFA policies. |

GC Cacao Genuine Article Sire:GC, RW Cacao Dawson's Creek Dam:GC Cedar Rose Goldie Hawn of Cacao DOB: November 22, 2008 "Genuine" is a beautiful cream&white boy with huge expressive eyes and a massive head. We love his striking marks and sweet expression. Genuine is available! Please contact us if you are interested in purchasing him. We prefer to sell within the US. No regional restrictions on Genuine OR his offspring! Genuine's name reflects that only Persians should be shown as Persians. He is a Persian by Persian breeding for numerous generations. He is the product of a Persian breeding program, as opposed to Longhair Exotics that are the unwanted and undesired result of a Exotic Shorthair breeding program. Persians are Longhair cats - and they always have been. Exotic Shothairs are, by definition, a shorthair breed.

CH Cacao Mimic Me Not of Pawdance Sire:GC, RW Cacao Dawson's Creek Dam:GC Cedar Rose Goldie Hawn of Cacao DOB: November 22, 2008 "Mimi" is a lovely girl with a round, full tophead and a deep break. We really wanted to keep her, but we can't keep everything! She is now making her home with Pawdance Persians. The message in Mimi's name is pretty clear - don't mimic another breed! CFA should never allow one breed to so completely mimic another that in appearence, the two appear to be the same (genetics, of course, are a completely different story.) Exotic Shorthairs have only been able to approach the quality of the Persian breed by the generous sharing by Persian breeders for years. It is a slap in the face to those same Persian breeders to now come back and claim their mixed-breeed hybrids are the same as our Persians. A phrase coined by some good friends of ours is very appropiate and to the point - "A Zot Is Not [A Persian]." |

GC Cacao Pay The Piper Sire:CH Godz Total Whiteout of Fultonblue Dam: Brannaway Consuming Love of Cacao DOB: March 25, 2009 Piper is a repeat of GC, RW Cacao Xcitement - he's a beautiful black boy that doesn't really resemble his older brother much, but he's equally nice in different ways. Piper is now living in Florida with Starwind Persians. Piper is a two show grand!!! He granded at just 8 months of age! Piper's name is a reminder that CFA - and Persian breeders - as well as breeders of other breeds (such as Siamese) will have to "pay the piper" soon enough. The damage done by eroding CFA's long standard of purity will soon be spread to other breeds. What will YOU do when they come to YOUR breed and try to tell YOU what can be shown as your breed - even if it ISN'T your breed??? All actions have consequences.

GC Cacao Drama Queen Sire:CH Godz Total Whiteout of Fultonblue Dam:GC Cacao Sixth Sense DOB: May 1, 2009 Drama really is such a queen! She's a lovely girl that really used to have a fit when we'd pick her as a tiny baby... she's gotten over than habit now, but she earned her name with her antics then! Drama granded in the 1st ring of her 3rd show! She is our first bluecream grand! We are so proud of our silly girl! Drama Queen really reminds us of all the "drama" drummed up by the breeders of Exotic Shorthairs when it came to showing their unwanted Longhair variants. They claimed their cats would bring many entries to CFA shows and help clubs! Too bad that hasn't really happened! Hardly any Longhair Exotics are in the showhalls, certainly not enough to make one bit of difference to CFA as a whole. Of course, there IS something happening in CFA showhalls - some people are finally getting why the Persian breeders are so upset! It turns out that many who didn't realize that Exotic Longhairs are being shown AS PERSIANS in the PERSIAN classes! Not sure what they thought was happening, but they certainly are beginning to wonder... are they next? Many breeds produce look-a-likes of other breeds... |

GP Cacao Knockitoff With The Knockoffs Sire:GC Cacao Abercrombie, DM Dam: Kittiary Singing In The Rain! DOB: July 5, 2008 "Knocker" is another beautiful baby from our Kittiary girl, "Rain." Like her other kittens, he has a wonderful body and sweet expression. Knocker granded in the first ring of his 4th show! He's the 13th grand for his sire and 3rd for his mother. He is now living in his new home with a friend of Janet's! The inspiration for Knocker's name came from the loving owner of two wonderful Cacao cats who visited a local cat show. She was told there by a breeder of Exotic Shorthairs that her wonderful Persians were no different then the breeder's longhair exotics. A little perplexed, the owner wrote us for an explanation. I directed her to the 'now showing' page and asked her to read it and the names. She wrote me back this "...when she said her longhair exotic would look just like my cat, I was a little stunned... Kind of like when the girl who had a Coach purse very similar to mine told me that hers was a knock-off that she got for $35?... Only, we're not talking about fabric, leather, and running them through a sewing machine... We're talking about careful breeding programs, researching parenting of potential studs/dams to find a winning gene pool of outstanding Persian traits and to insure the continuation of the pure Persian breed... I'm not saying that Exotic breeder doesn't do a boatload of work for her breeding program... not at all. I'm just saying that she's breeding short-haired exotics. When she has a long-haired exotic, that should be "pet quality" not "show quality", because, for an Exotic breeder, the long hair is an error. " Thank you Kathryn, we really could not have said it better. It is certainly encouraging, and yet, at the same time, maddening, that a CFA outsider can understand the situation better than many of those in CFA!

GP Cacao Just Think About It Sire:GC, RW Cacao Dawson's Creek Dam:GC Cedar Rose Goldie Hawn of Cacao DOB: November 22, 2008 Thinker is the 5th kitten from his litter to hit the show halls and the 3rd to Grand! Wow! Thinker is now living in his forever home with Fabiola and family. Far too many people, when confronted with the Longhair Zot issue, didn't really think about what it meant. It wasn't until the cats were actually in the ring that people with other breeds finally realized what it was about! So we encourage people of all breeds - when a vote comes forward to show another breed in your color divisions - just think about it. Does it really make sense to mix and match breeds? What is the point of having breeds if there are not clear definitions of what is a breed? |
