Awards Won By Cacao Cattery
National Winners At the end of each show season, CFA gives the title of "National Winner" or "NW" to the top 25 cats in the three major categories Championship (adult cats that are not neutered), Kittens (aged 4-7 months), and Premiership (adults cats that are neutered). This title is one of CFA's most prestigious and difficult to obtain. Cats from North America, Europe, and Russia compete for this award. |
Grand Champions & Grand Premiers The title of "Grand Champion" or "GC" is awarded to a cat that is not neutered and has defeated 200 other champions. The title of "Grand Premier" or "GP" is award to a neutered cat that has defeated 75 other premiers. Only a small percentage of all cats shown achieve these titles. |
Regional Winners Like the title of National Winner, "Regional Winner" or RW is awarded to the top 25 Championship, Kittens, and Premiership Cats. There are 7 regions in North America, so the competition for Regional Winner is smaller than for National Winner. |
Distinguished Merits Often called the "breeder's award," Distinguished Merit or "DM" is the most sought after title to be found on a pedigree. This title is given to a male that produces 10 Grands or a female that produces 5 Grands. (Prior to 2021, males had to produce 15 Grands). It is one of the best indications of overall quality in a breeding line. |
